Synopsis
The Ironbound district in Newark, New Jersey, is one of the most toxic neighborhoods in the country. Within four square miles, people are forced to co-exist with a garbage incinerator, sewage treatment facility, international airport, seaport, and thousands of trucks per day all spewing harmful chemicals into the environment. The Sacrifice Zone follows Maria Lopez-Nuñez as she fights for environmental justice and works with her community to build a just and sustainable future.
