The Dry Years is documentary short film that shows the lives of Matilde and Mario, a couple of goat farmers who live in the remote central valley area of Petorca, Chile. After a series of long droughts, their access to water is increasingly uncertain. The film follows them for one year through all weather conditions that the seasons leave behind. Their preoccupation with the availability of water leaves a sense of stoicism, obstinacy, and subtle despair as everyday life evolves in a crude, dry, and increasingly difficult environment.
